I feel the same way. And I think some recent community involvement or professional accomplishment would be more meaningful as an update. It did mention add'l recommendation letter which I am thinking about to go that route.


Also agreed. My score certainly didn't blow anyone away, but it was within the range I consistently pre-tested at after taking a formal study course. Four rushed weeks might eke out 10-30 pt increase, but if I was an AdCom, that wouldn't move the needle very much.

I think we should get a WL headcount by the end of the week. They will start reviewing apps early May.

I have got a strong feeling that there will be a major movement on 5/10. Duke is probably the only school who openly say that its WL is selective and you still have a great shot at acceptance. Since lot of people on this forum have already said no, they need to be replaced by us "hungry" WLers. Let's hope for the best.

Waiting for 31 more days will be pretty tough though.

If someone sends a recommendation on your behalf, how do you find out if the school received it? Do you get a confirmation email?

They just sent a PDF to the waitlist email address with a short intro.

Did you use an alum/current student or just a random person? I am wondering if an alum who barely knows you can provide a stronger rec than your supervisor

An alum who barely knows you cannot provide a better rec than your supervisors who interacts with you every day. Examples of your work and an understanding of why you'd be great at Duke far exceed the name of an alum on a piece of paper.

Getting nervous! I'm still flabbergasted that they don't notify people on the waitlist after they've received Round 2 deposits (which are due 4/30)... but, I guess that allows the adcom to have the information of who is in the class when evaluating waitlisted and Round 3 candidates.

I visited Ithaca again, and honestly... it won me over. I'm pretty conflicted at the moment. I will definitely not be on later than 5/10.
