Hey CelerIP - wow that's an impressive profile!!
No, don't wait to apply to any schools for the promotion. Here's why:
1. If your recommenders will mention it, then it will be taken as fact in the application - it's almost as good as if you already had it
2. If for some horrible reason you don't get in this year, then having a promotion come in AFTER your original apps will be HUGE in helping you as a reapplicant to many of these schools.
In fact, due to reason #2, we strongly encourage you to apply BEFORE your promotion is finalized.
If you end up a reapplicant, you will have almost zero levers to pull to improve your profile. You're already at the top of the charts for core stats of GMAT and GPA (congrats on that BTW - AWESOME stuff there). The main reason that you'd be at risk for rejection is - provided your essays this year are superlative - due to your relative youth, which is exactly the issue you're concerned about.
If anyone gets rejected, then as a reapplicant they must show how they've improved the profile (that's the needed reapp strategy at most but not all schools - HBS is a bit different).
If YOU get rejected, then you pretty much know it's due to low work experience. Just accruing another year of experience wouldn't be enough for a school like Columbia to reverse its decision next time though; you'd need to also show how you're a better candidate the second time around. The very best way for you to do that would be with a promotion.
Make sense?
We don't mean to freak you out with all this "rejection" and "reapplicant" talk - given the brief sketch you've shared with us, we're pretty darn impressed already. You have a lot going for you and it's very possible you could get snapped up (by multiple schools) this year. You need those essays to be rockin' but if you pull that off then we have NO worries for you. You're hitting on all cylinders.
Does that help? Please come back at us with any other questions - you've got so much going on to the positive and we want to follow you as a success story as you go through this process!!!!!
(not to jinx it or anything, but really, you should be able to convert that profile fairly easily...!)
Good luck and please stay in touch!
