If you want to live in California, Anderson definitely makes sense. And yes, there are plenty of consulting firms recruiting there. I don't think it would be worth retaking the GMAT since it's high enough to demonstrate your academic competency. So an increased GMAT score would have diminishing marginal returns. I would encourage you to apply.

i would look into ways to boost your academics, either through extension courses or other. the low GPA will be problematic, including during recruiting for consulting since they do take that into account. MBB does recruit here at Anderson, along with the Big-4 Accounting consulting wings, and smaller boutique firms. Our consulting track and recruitment training is excellent. I would, however, widen your options for school as frankly the GPA will be a large focal point.
