Hi guys,

I have a prior work experience in market research and consulting and wanted to transition to a core consulting role post MBA. Does Anderson makes sense for me?

Also, a low GPA of 2.9 would be a problem? I have a GMAT score of 730.

Are you applying for full-time or part-time? Are you international student or domestic? The low GPA would be a problem, in my opinion.

I am an Indian female applicant and applying for full-time two-year course. Do you think I could aim for a higher GMAT to compensate for GPA?

Also, my major concern was does Anderson make sense for Consulting? I was inclined to live in California, hence I was considering if I could consider applying.

If you want to live in California, Anderson definitely makes sense. And yes, there are plenty of consulting firms recruiting there. I don't think it would be worth retaking the GMAT since it's high enough to demonstrate your academic competency. So an increased GMAT score would have diminishing marginal returns. I would encourage you to apply.

i would look into ways to boost your academics, either through extension courses or other. the low GPA will be problematic, including during recruiting for consulting since they do take that into account. MBB does recruit here at Anderson, along with the Big-4 Accounting consulting wings, and smaller boutique firms. Our consulting track and recruitment training is excellent. I would, however, widen your options for school as frankly the GPA will be a large focal point.
