Can somebody give me a way to improve my score in verbal?

It takes a lot of time to solve questions on RC and CR.
I think there is some loop holes in my preparation but I could not find a way to overcome it.

Hi anirbandatta27,

Start the following activities from today itself:

1. Reading: Read a minimum 1 hour every single day. Novels or articles from sources like newyorker, newyork times, harvard magazine, economist..etc.
2. Practice: 3-4 RCs everyday. with timer.

Do not miss on any of these two.

Apart from this the general advice is to focus on official questions. Do not worry if you only get to do 2 SC and 2 CR question on a day ad 5 question on the other. Count is not important rather Learning everything possible from a single official verbal question and keeping the learnings from that question fresh in mind are much more more important and vital.

In simple terms - Do less learn more/all!

Do not hesitate to try out LSAT and of course MGMAT.

Specially for SC: Do a question and if it makes you learn a concept/rule or add a new learning to a rule/concept you know, write a TAKEAWAY in the word document. do it for any such SC question. REVISE that doc twice a week or anytime you need. You will learn how a rule is played with tricks in different SC questions.

Official questions sources:
OG 10/12/13/15/16/17/18
Verbal Review guides
GMATPrep (CAT-1 & 2)
Exam Packs 1 & 2
Question Pack-1
Gmat Paper tests

Hope this information helps you. please post if you have a followup question.

Happy Studying :)

Thank you for the tips..I will definitely follow the instructions mentioned by you.

Can you suggest where can I find the past GMAT question paper?

Ideally how many tests one should appear before the final exam?

Thanks..!

Back ground : Last week I have appeared for the test and was able to score just 24 in verbal. I have used only og to prepare. I am seriously facing problems to deal RC and CR. It takes a lot of time to solve questions on RC and CR.
I have being preparing from last 4 months. I think there is some loop holes in my preparation but I could not find a way to overcome it.

For SC my percent rate to score correct is just over 50%. How do I improve it further?
I believe if i get a little guidance I can develop it quickly.

What sources do I have to take up to improve it further to score more than 40 in verbal?
Also Can some body provide some details on test series that I must take before I appear for the final test.

I plan to give the exam on last of Jan 2018.

Thanking you in advance.

Hi anirbandatta27,

You should solidify your concepts first. It’s a good thing you have taken a GMAT test. You can now know your weaknesses and work on them. I believe you may benefit from taking a GMATPREP course. If you are willing, there are some great GMAT prep companies that can help you with your preparation.

Also for verbal, I would highly encourage you to consider e-gmat verbal online or the e-gmat verbal live course. They are both amazing courses especially designed for non-natives. They offer almost 25% of their courses for free so you can try out their free trial to decide which one you want to go for. Plus the e-gmat Scholaranium which is included in both the courses is one of the best verbal practice tools in the market. You can easily track your progress in that you can identify your strengths and analyze and improve on your weak areas.

You can also try out the MGMAT guides they are phenomenal and cover the entire syllabus really well. I must add that if you are particularly looking to discover and improve on your weak areas in quant; a subscription to GMATCLUB tests is the best way to do that. They are indeed phenomenal and will not only pinpoint your weak areas but also help you improve on them. Further taking multiple mocks might help. Apart from the GMATPREP, Manhattan GMAT tests and Veritas Prep Tests in my experience have a good verbal and Quant section and will certainly help you point out and improve your weak areas.

Further another advantage of taking many mocks is to build up your stamina. Apart from the GMATPREP tests, taking practise tests of any major GMATPREP company ought to do that.

Further, I would also encourage you to purchase the latest version of OG and the Quant and verbal review for some great additional practice. Here is a link that will help you with your decision.

Lastly, you can check out a very interesting article by Mike McGarry from Magoosh detailing a 3 month study plan

https://magoosh.com/gmat/2012/3-month-g ... -students/. You will find it very helpful as it gives out a study plan as per your needs.

Hope this helps. All the best.
