Hi,
I am an Indian male. I have around 3 years of IT experience post my engineering & around 3 years of Investment Banking experience post my Masters in Finance. Besides I have also completed CFA & FRM certification. I am planning to write GMAT & targeting to take admission in 2019. By the time of admission I will complete 4 years of Investment Banking experience.
I have few queries where I need guidance:
1. Which B Schools should I aim for?
2. Is it better to go for 1 year of MBA or should I opt for 2 year program?
3. Please guide me ,post MBA how the recruiter will consider 7 years of experience? Will I face difficulty in getting placed considering my age will be higher (at least 3 years) to the average age of the batch.
Thanks for your help.
Regards,
Abhi
Hi
AbhijitSaha ,
Here are some of my inputs:
1. Your first aim should be to determine your short term and long term goals. Based on that you should determine which of the schools are under your radar. Moreover, your GMAT Score would also play an important role in determining the schools list.
2. Ideally, schools prefer people with more work-ex to go for executive but obviously it has to be your own decision based on your school choice and ROI. Note that 1 year program won't give you the choice to go for internship or more time to look for jobs if you don't already have something on hand.
3. I would first consider this point for getting into a BSchool. You need to have a solid reason to justify the diverse experience and then link that along with an MBA with your goals. If that works out, obviously you can use the same strategy for your post MBA jobs. Moreover, 3 years more than average could be a hurdle if you donot justify that very well.
My first focus should be getting done with GMAT because then only I would be able to determine the next steps.
All the best
