Re: According to latest research by some professors at Michigan State Univ [#permalink]
Why is E wrong here??

We want a statement that supports the argument.

Argument says Ozone Depletion causes Global Warming. And Ozone Depletion causes eye infection in some animals.

And E says Due to Global Warming temp is increasing causing eye infection in some species.

So if Ozone Depletion leads to < Global Warming> and It causes temp to rise <which in turn> causes eye infection.

I guess E fully supports the argument!!!

E states that due to global warming temperature is increasing which affect animals.

But argument says ozone depletion is one of causes,in E we don't know what is cause , There may be some other factor causing global warming for eg emissions of chlorofloro carbon

Also this undefined cause,we don't know how it effects animals

Also Rays which penetrate through ozone layer cause effects in eye of animals not because of rise in temperature because of global warming

So because all of this
E is wrong

Give kudos if this helps

Option D is the answer. Although it sounds like a restatement of one of the premises upon close observation you will see it somehow strengthens the premise that " some noxious rays which enter the earth's environment and cause permanent eye infection in some animals." Option E says that heat cause eye infection. This fact is not at all related to the conclusion.

Re: According to latest research by some professors at Michigan State Univ [#permalink]
Argument: Multiple global warming causes —> one of the major = ozone layer depletion.
Ozone layer depletion —> multiple effects (some positive/some negative) : one do them = rays enter and affect some animals

Option Analysis

A. All wavelengths are not harmful for eyes - Wrong. As mentioned above “some positive, some negative - but there can also be a case that all negative”. Hence we cannot generalise.

B. Human eyes are not infected by harmful wavelengths.
Wrong. The effect on human eyes has not been specified.

C Very few species of animals are exposed to these harmful wavelengths of light.
Wrong. Some may include ~ 48% or 10%. We cannot say very few.

D Some harmful radiations can easily enter earth’s environment due to ozone depletion
Correct. The statement clearly states that the radiation’s enter. Though we cannot ascertain the ease of entry, we can overlook that fact.

E Due to global warming, the temperature of the earth is increasing which in turn cause eye infection in some species of animals.
Wrong. Though it is known that temperature increases because of global warming, we are assuming the correlation of temperature increase and eye infection. The scope of argument does not cover this relation.
