Re: Prep course for Verbal [#permalink]
Hey apwang

Welcome to GMATClub.

IMO to improve in SC, you must get better at understanding the underlying concepts that
are being tested. The Manhattan SC Strategy guide is a good starting point as it gives you
a good idea about the rules tested. The theory if then followed by practice lesson which will
help you solidify your concepts.

In addiiton to this, these are some links where you can find some information regarding SC
https://gmatclub.com/forum/sc-verbal-qu ... 95439.html
https://gmatclub.com/forum/sentence-cor ... 41821.html (From Magoosh)
https://gmatclub.com/forum/e-gmat-s-all ... 44985.html (From eGMAT)
https://gmatclub.com/forum/compiled-thu ... 54538.html (Ron Purewal's links)

Alternatively, you could take a free trial of the various courses offered and then take a call
about which course you intend to use in order to prepare yourself better for SC.

For practice, you can visit the following link

Hope this helps!

i took a mock test and got a 560~570 before studying. I did the worst in the SC part of verbal. After studying for a week of almost exclusively SC, i took a mock on the GMAT site and got 670, although i feel i may have gotten lucky and would put myself at about 650, with verbal still my weakest link. I would like to push to above 700 since my GPA is pretty bad. What prep course would you guys recommend for emphasis on verbal? I only have about 5 weeks to study. Thanks!

Hi apwang,

For verbal, especially SC I would highly encourage you to consider e-gmat verbal online or the e-gmat verbal live course. They are both amazing courses especially designed for non-natives. They offer almost 25% of their courses for free so you can try out their free trial to decide which one you want to go for. Plus the e-gmat Scholaranium which is included in both the courses is one of the best verbal practice tools in the market. You can easily track your progress in that you can identify your strengths and analyze and improve on your weak areas.

Further taking multiple mocks might help. Apart from the GMATPREP, Manhattan GMAT tests and Veritas Prep Tests in my experience have good verbal and Quant section and will certainly help you point out and improve your weak areas.

Further another advantage of taking many mocks is to build up your stamina. Apart from the GMATPREP tests, taking practise tests of any major GMATPREP company ought to do that.

I would also encourage you to purchase the GMATPREP QP 1 for some great additional practice. Here is a link that will help you with your decision.
