X2 - 8 < 8

X2 < 16

-4 < X < 4

\(X^2-8 < 8\)
i.e. \(X^2 < 16\)
i.e. X<4 or X>-4
i.e. –4 < x < 4

Eight less than the square of x: \(x^2 - 8\)
is: \(=\)
less than eight: \(< 8\)

=> \(x^2 - 8 < 8 \)

=> \(x^2 < 16 (4^2)\)

=> \(-4 < x < 4\)
