There doesn't appear to be a specific portion of the application where you specify which round you are applying in. Has anyone else noticed this?

It's likely that the application will be considered as a part of R1 if you manage to submit within the deadline. If your application passes the R1 deadline, it will automatically be considered for R2. Mentioning the application round doesn't seem necessary if that were the case.

  ! 19% is incredibly low.
This raises the question about the number of students who were offered deferrals.

916 enrolled for the class of 2022. So, I guess there are not many deferrals.

Maybe there are deferrals, which were primarily given to international students. They then went on to fill those vacancies with domestic candidates. One has to wonder what it means to the batch applying to the program this year

Do they seriously not allow you to preview the application before submitting? You can barely make out the text in half of the boxes....has anyone been able to preview? Epic fail if this is indeed the case.

There were definitely a ton of deferrals amongst the international class. In July alone they took almost 100 students off the waitlist.

Thanks for chipping in xprometheusx So, the seats vacated by the international deferrals were given to domestic applicants and that is why the international students % in the current class is low.

Can anyone confirm if Wharton recommenders can see this text box:

• (Optional) Is there anything else we should know?

It is not mentioned in the below web-page for this year's application, although it was included last year.

https://mba.wharton.upenn.edu/mba-appli ... c1fbf-767a

Thanks

Wow! Thank you for sharing this information mate.
Would really help in managing expectations.
Also, there have been rumors going around of about a 20% increase in the number of applicants in R1 over last year's R1.
Things are going to be super competitive at Wharton!

Both my recommenders got this strange thank you email from Wharton's director of operations , Jeb Butler. Not overtly specific. Is this normal/ does everyone get it? Or is it a good sign??????

Have read a lot of posts on reddit regarding this. Seems like it is a common practice for Wharton as last year, recommenders of people who didn’t even get an interview invite also received the same email. Looks like it’s just a way for the adcom to express their gratitude to the recommenders for their time as Wharton doesn’t has the GMAC common LoR and has very unique Andy different questions.
I wouldn’t think much of it.

Unfortunately and not meant to burst your bubble of excitement, but it seems that everyone gets these so not indicative on whether or not you will be invited to interview. Agreed, strangely personally yet not overtly specific so can be misleading.

As per posts on reddit and Clear admit, it looks like there were 2-3 types of email templates floating around. Some along the lines of ’most thoughtful recommendation’, some along ’kind support’ (which is what i got) etc. Does this mean the guys with more flowery language are more likely to get an interview? Also did everyone get one from Jeb Butler or someone else

Don't worry about it. I don't think there is anything to learn by staring at the tea leaves here.

For what it’s worth, my recommender got one from Blair Mannix
