One really good idea is to look up the LinkedIn profiles of consultants. Look up recommendations, and follow through on the people who left those recommendations, and their contacts to know that they are genuinely from the school that they claim to be from. If you have time, try and ping them to connect and ask their actual views over the phone.

My best friend opted for Autri Chakravarti and Autri only did touch ups/ grammatical corrections. That was it for 30 k.

Admissions consultants like to make the whole thing seem like a black box, with some mysterious secrets behind the curtain at the AdComs.

The truth is you need to find a consultant who will give some key things:
1) Create momentum in the process by unsticking you at the hardest stages
2) Really committed and leaning into the process with energy and enthusiasm
3) Strong brainstorming processes at front end to develop a quick and complete picture of your experience and background from every possible angle.
4) A personalized experienced expert who is your regular contact and develops a mastery of your background so they can provide you with new angles to look at and build your personal brand
5) An understanding of the core elements that need to be the foundation of the answers to essay questions, recommender questions, interview questions and video essay questions.
6) A NO-TEMPLATES approach to document building -- templates are killers for great applications. They rely on someone else's brand framework and holds back your unique story being told.

Sadly most consultants only do touch ups. Its important to find someone who has been through the MBA grind and can give practical advice on the whole process.
