yeah, it's been very strange... almost no invites sent out after New Years for UCLA, Haas, nor Stanford...

I called in on Friday asking a general inquiry in regards to invitations. They told me that because this is the first year they are doing "invitation-only" interviews, they are a bit behind and that interviews will be given out all the way until January 18.

Praying that I get one this week!

haha, knowing UCLA's "efficiency", I wonder if they're going to make their 1/18 date... or will they WL a bunch of people who needs to be interviewed?

How long after submitting your app, Kry did you get your interview invite?

Any from the 2nd round who got their interview invites?/

Bewakoof, I can also answer from my experience. I submitted my application on 10/22 (the R1 deadline) and received an interview invite on 11/29. I interviewed the next week on 12/6.

submitted 10/20 for R1, got my complete status 10/29, interview invite first week of December, Interview on 12/11, and decision on 12/21.

I think UCLA is falling behind... too few people interviewed and admitted so far.

Interesting. Your status on the online application changes from "submitted" to "completed"?

I guess that would signify the Adcom has reviewed your application several times and has decided whether you get an interview or a ding.

My status is still "submitted".

Seems like it won't change for a while, given the low number of R1 decisions and the record number of R2 applicants thus far.

I actually believe that the changing from "submitted" to "complete" signifies that they have received all of the materials requested (i.e. application, essays, transcript, recommendations, application fee, GMAT). I did not get my "complete" email until 11/6 so it took a while longer that kryzak. I don't think it signifies that they have reviewed your application, though.

Re: Calling UCLA Fall 2008 Applicants [#permalink]
no, my application status never changed from submitted.

UCLA will send you another email with another login that shows whether you sent in all the required documents. That one has a 12 digit code or something like that.

NEITHER status website will change even if you get interviewed or admitted, unfortunately (Mine is still on "submitted and under review" for the application website and "Complete" for the status website).

Go figure!

I just called the office. They told me that a "completed" status should be received 2 to 3 weeks after submission and that they're still pulling the information together for R2 applicants so it might be a bit longer.

Just got my official R1 ding. Oh well, didn't want to go there anyway

Anybody know if UCLA provides a post mortem?

Good luck to those applying and congrats to those who are in!

sorry to hear that, toploader and notokung! I didn't know UCLA was giving out decisions already, when the decision date is 1/18. Very strange.

I am so confused by their system right now, but I am still holding out hope for all of you waiting for your decision!

Well, I don't know how strong my profile really is. I'm an old (31 at matriculation) white guy with a low undergrad GPA. I've got some very unique international work experience which everybody seems impressed by, and I tied that in with my "why and MBA" essay, but perhaps not well enough. Frankly, a 720 GMAT (Q48/V41) isn't as impressive as it would have been just a year or two ago.

I did feel that UCLA was my weakest app as the essays afforded very little room to talk about who I am outside of work (that background essay was almost useless). Let's hope I shine through on the others.
