My UCLA app wasnt the weakest one but it wasnt my strongest one either.
Agreed with Toploader that the questions left very little room for us to talk about life outside work. Considering that the number of applicants esp from the US are increasing big time this year, international applicants lime me have got a slimmer chance. Anyway, Congrats to those accepted and wish those who waitin for the decision date best of luck. Cheers.

yeah, the UCLA essays aren't the best at bringing out who you are. That's why I wrote the optional essay to talk about what I do outside of work.

I'm going for Round 3. I know I'm late, and I've read all the chatter about how tough it is this year, with applications way up, but I'm going to go for it anyway. Will shoot to get it in a few weeks ahead of of the official deadline - perhaps that will help my case? Have been corresponding w/a first year there re: media opportunities, and she seems smart as a whip and loves it, etc. I took a look at my lineup - Haas, Columbia, Wharton and Stanford - and I think I'd better spread some love around to some other schools...

I haven't heard anything back from UCLA.. (Rd2).. I think they match up all your info and send you an email (2nd -3rd week).. telling you that they have recieved everything. I didn't apply till the last day (Jan 2nd - i think I should hear back by early next week) I hope so..

No word from adcom about R2 yet.

I thought I had a fighting chance this year but based on the feedback I've seen so far...it ain't looking good.

Didn't go to diversity weekend...how was that? Any other events coming up?

Guys, thanks for the vote of support... Waitlist stinks.. but I have realized my main weak point

limited work experience... this is my number 1 weak point which is making me go W/L..

Sorry dude. I am sure you will get into at least one of those 3 schools. There is a huge probability that you will have the last laugh when all those 3 WLs get converted into admits..

Better to have too little work experience than too much. At least if thats the cause you know another year or two your chances will be better than they are now not worse.
