GMAT Score 660 (Q41,V38). AWA 3.5
Years of experinece - 8 in IT
From India, currently working in the US
Proven leadership track and a execellent reccomendation from my client.

What are my chances at CMU / Duke and UC Berkley. I want to focus on schools ranked 10 - 20 and picked these schools from the Business week rankings.

Does me being an IT prof set expectations for a higher score?

It does make things harder for you since yours is a common background, but you won't set yourself apart enough with a higher score, even if you get a 750+. Hopefully you have some experiences outside of academics and work experience to talk about, to help yourself stand out from a pool of highly competitive, similar applicants.

Thnx for the reply.

I have been an active promoter of south indian classical music in the bay area. I am part of an non profit org in the bay area that organizes around 20+ concerts by top indian vocal/instrumental musicians every year. We have budget of around 100k$ and each concert attracts around 600 people.

Just wondering if Schools do weigh such activities ?

Yes! Absolutely they consider these activities. Discussing something like this sets you apart because 1) it shows that you're passionate about something and 2) it allows you to show off a time when you took the initiative and assumed a leadership role. Don't worry about it being non-work-related. Some of applicants' best stories are not work-related.
