Thought I'd share my own version of the GMAT timer. Its in excel. I will not say that it is completely bug free. Try at your own risk...

Some hints to use it:

1. It has two tabs - 'test' tab where you take the actual test and the 'test summary' tab where you can copy and paste the results of your test from the 'test tab' for analysis (there is a sample 'test summary' tab, showing it the way i used it).
2. Test tab has four buttons:
a. Passage - click on it when you start reading a passage (yes, i kept track of my time on passages separately) and click on it one more time when you are done reading the passage (alternately, you can use Shift+P to register start time and end time separately).
b. Qtime - When you hit this button after you are done with your test, it will give you the time/Q in the column 'Time/Q'
c. Start - Hitting the button starts your clock. It is automatically set to 75 min. However, say you are doing only 10 Q's and you want to time yourself for 15 min, you can click on the 'green' cell which displays the time and enter your time.. It will then count down from that time. However, the next time you take the test, it will reset itself to 75 min
d. Stop - Hitting the button stops the clock - you might want to do this after you are done with the test ahead of time.

The columns are self explanatory...You can register your ans by clicking on the column under the header 'Quant' for the Quant section. After you key in a choice, hit 'Enter' and it will go to the next cell below (a.k.a next Q). The columns with header 'Time/Q' will show the time you took to answer a Q only after you complete the test and hit the 'QTime' button (set it up that way so that I wont be distracted while taking the test).
The column 'RC' will show the time for each passage that you had to complete (if you record the time correctly using the passage button or 'Ctrl+P' - you need to click twice - once to start the clock for the passage and one to stop it. otherwise, it might give you some wacky time!)

Happy testing!

Alarm makes sounds (no other notifications). Maybe you sound volume was zero or maybe configuration of your system doesn't allow the timer to play sounds.

I have been using this tool since few days. Alarm option is extremely helpful. But it works sometimes and it doesnt some other times. Am I only one facing this issue?

All of the SC1000 files have been removed from GMAT Club. They have been found to violate copyright laws.

Do you use this when you are taking the practice exam or just whenever you practice GMAT questions?
