After submitting Part I of the application last week, I got the invite for an interview today :) From this point on, you can only get class visit WITH an interview invitation and some weeks they have only interviews available, no class visits or campus tours.

My interview was pretty run of the mill, I interviewed with a member of the admissions committee. She was very friendly and nice. She asked me to walk her through my resume, entry by entry. She then asked why I was pursuing an MBA, why UNC, and why now. Then asked me about my future career plans.

Pretty standard stuff. Thought this might be helpful.

I am an applicant for Early Action, please update the roll call.

I had my interview on Oct 28th and my experience was also similar to Pre777's. It was a phone interview with a member of the adcom and he was very friendly. The interview was conversational but detailed.

The areas he focused on are as follows:

Resume(line by line)
Why MBA?
Why UNC?
Career goals
Extracurricular activities
Weaknesses

Nothing too drastically different from what I had prepared for and the politeness and relaxed attitude of the interviewer definitely helped me to express myself well.

Fingers crossed for Dec 14th now!

I’m editing 478th version of my essays and applying to R1. Anyone else? I was pleasantly surprised to receive an email from admission officer offering me help with application process. Did anyone else get this email last week? In the email she typed my first name, so it doesn’t look like a canned email. I will have interview in few weeks.

Is anyone writing optional essay #6? I am not, I think ad com staff has enough to read already.

Hi All,
For those of you that applied for Early Action, did you receive an email from UNC regarding the release date of admission decisions?

Yes received it this afternoon.

I'm not reading anything into it except they want to try and cut down the calls they get from applicants.

Hello Everyone,

Today, I received the interview invite from KFBS. I was confused reg. what to choose - on-campus or phone. I was wondering what is the effect of going on on-campus vs. telephonic interview. Although, the email states they weigh both of them equally, I would like to know is a there any preference that you sensed through ad-com? Also, if anyone has already finished the interview, could you please let me know what you guys did - on-campus / telephone / alum ?

Thanks for all your help!

It's due Dec 4, 11:59pm EST. Emailed Admissions office and received this answer.

Count me in for round 1 as well. Still doing final essay check :)

Good luck guys!

Hmmm, did I just shoot myself in a foot by selecting interview date 2 weeks past R1 deadline, i.e. in 10 days?

How do you interpret twit from KF ad com below? I mean, decisions are final on February 8th, so what are they talking about? I'm freaking out a bit here. :?:

KFBS_Admissions: Just finished committee meetings for Round 1 applicants. Final decisions will be made this week. Decisions going out a week from today.

Are you international? If you are, then it would be more practical to do a telephone interview. If you're not, then I suggest you go for the on-campus interview. It will be more personal and you can get so much from body language i.e., you can get a better sense if you're engaging the interviewer; you can see from his/her facial expression if he/she understands what you're trying to say, etc. It's also easier to build some sort of camarederie in person than through the phone. Just my two cents :)
