Just had my phone interview with Adcom. Was a nice experience. The interviewer really put me at ease so it was easier to share my experiences :)

At the end of the interview, she gave me her email address so I may contact her for future questions. Do they do always do this? It was a nice gesture :)

It is normal to lend out a business card after the interview.Glad that your interview went well.

For R2, December 4th deadline? If that is true, then UNC is going against its policy:
The process is easy.

https://www.kenan-flagler.unc.edu/Progra ... wships.cfm
    No need to apply
Complete application for admission by the January deadline to be automatically considered upon admission
Fellowship decisions mailed 7-10 days after decision release for each deadline
All students, international and domestic, considered for fellowships

Someone on BW's forum posted that they heard 40-60% of applicants are being interviewed and that UNC's had a 'huge' uptick in # of applicants this year. Interesting because that's the exact opposite of what I heard: they interview 90% and their volumes are slightly lower this year. Does anybody have any credible or different information?

I remember reading on this forum (maybe even on this thread) that someone from adcom said during one of their online chats that they will interview 50-60% of applicants this year (chat logs are available on their website but they seem to be an image, so you can't do ctrl+F on them). Also, I'd be shocked if they saw a "huge" uptick in their apps. I think their application volumes are very slightly down from last year.

This year,UNC switched to interview by invite.During a info session, adcom mentioned that around 60% would be invited for interviews. Not sure about the app volume.

You can add me as well. Interviewed 2 weeks ago at UNC with Adcom. Interview was pretty straightforward: he only had my resume and we walked through that, why MBA, why UNC, etc. Great school, would love to go there.

In one of their chats they said that application volume was slightly down; in other chat they said that volume was down by about 5%. That may have changed by R2, who knows. I have no idea how many people they invite for an interview. Feb 8th can't come fast enough.

Thanks. As an FYI I too recieved an 'early' admit with a full scholarship.

I have a tough decision to make as I've also been accepted to a top 7-8 school. I absolutely loved UNC. I had an infomative visit when I interviewed and people went out of their way to introduce me to the right students, staff and faculty. And I thought the facilities were top notch. I think I could really succeed in that kind of environment.

But I'm hoping to get into investment managment (hedge funds, pe or big money managment institutions) and I've got to think the higher rank would take me further initially. That said in my limited experience talking to people in this area it seems as though the contacts you or the school determine placement more than the actual school pedigree. Not to mention that UNC generally has some famous alumni in investment management. you guys have any thoughts?
