Hi All,

To folks who got admitted to Round 1, how many words in total were your essays (with the questions words)? Did you strictly make sure your answers were 1800 words or did you folks submit 5-10% over?

Ideally I would want the Essays 3 and 4 to be 400 words each but that means i will probably get over the limits ...

thoughts?

Mine was over by about 40 words, roughly 2%.

Thanks folks. It means I have to trim down to 1800 words. I will do that.

Another question, albiet more important one.

I have written what matters most to me and why, but it is of a personal nature and doesnt have any direct influence on my career aspirations. in fact its a completely different thread of its own. Lets put it this way, I believe i can take what is most important to me and my career aspirations in different threads throughout my life and they dont converge at all.
Is that a problem? Does the Essay 1 NEED to lead to essay 2 or business? or is it okay if its a parallel thread of its own...

I've always been told to not go over the limit. Make it succint.

Please add me to the roll for R2. It's a stretch but I figure I'm more likely to get in if I apply than if, you know, I don't.

Good luck to everyone applying or still waiting or - like me - still agonizing over the essays!

Folks, I have a question regarding Essay 3c:

Quote:
Tell us about a time when you motivated others to support your vision or initiative.

Does this have to be about a group or team? Can this be about one single individual you mentored or helped to grow?

My assumption is that it should be OK, but not sure.

did mine on a team. not sure what others did.

i think if you show your leadership potential via inspiring or mentoring a single person, and how that this characteristic can easily be relayed in a group or team setting, then it should be okay. it just can't be about convincing a dude getting tacos instead of burritos.

Damn! How did you know?

Truth be told, I once had my whole team eat Thai for three days in a row...I think they still hate me! :-D

so quick question for all.. For essays 3 (pick 2 of 4 questions) there was no requirement for it to have occurred during the last three years (only on the web page)... any thoughts?

Re: Calling All Stanford Fall 2010 applicants! [#permalink]
Does anyone else have this problem on the Online Application?

I went to a college which was on a 12 point GPA system.

In the Education section of the application, I tried entering my GPA into the section for non-4.0 schools. But each of the input areas only allow 3 spaces. So if I have a GPA of 11.5, I can only enter it as "11." or "115".

Does anyone else have a similar problem? Any suggestions on how to enter this?

Of course I'll be uploading my Transcript as well, but I'm a little worried.

Did mine on ppl around me, not really anything like a team or group in the structured sense. I just wrote about one of my passion/vision and how ppl arnd me are influenced as I talk to them about it, and eventually some of them joined me in my activities. Hope this helps.

By the way, I'm officially in R2. Submitted my application 2 weeks ago and all recommendation letters have just been submitted.

All the best to all!!!
