Hi all,

I have doubt regarding the size of the Letters of recommendation.

My manager is asking me as how long should the answers to the 5 questions be?

what is the format in which LORs are to be submitted?

12 point font, double spaced. 2-4 pages is the norm but they don't give a restriction on word count or pages.

Also, i have a question regarding the activities section of the online application - what if i haven't been part of any organizations but do have some hobbies (sports, etc) do i leave it blank and explain in the additional information essay or just don't talk about it because it wasn't associated with any organization...?

Add me to the R2 roll - I will officially send in my application once I get my last recommendation

Received a 3.5 from a Tier 1 Liberal Arts College (Ranked between 50-75)

Fingers crossed and good luck to all!

Blasted through most of Wharton today, and will submit early tomorrow morning and finish Stanford right after that (I pretty much had everything done, but had to wait for my peer essay...)

Unfortunately I have HKS due Friday and...yeah I haven't done a single essay. Not looking forward to that, and will miss Jersey Shore Thursday night because of it so please ^^^ enjoy the new episode for me then as well - half those people are from Staten Island where I am from...and the sad fact is they pretty much represent the standard out there.

Does anyone know how strict Stanford typically is when it comes to receiving letters of recommendation before the submission deadline? The application makes it clearly seem that they won't accept anything post-deadline, but I was wondering if anyone knew anything more?

I have an emergency situation that's just cropped up now (24 hours before submission!) where one of my recommenders might not be able to submit his recommendation before the weekend (Jan 9th-10th) due to some personal reasons. Is it worth calling the Admissions Office ahead of time (though I can't imagine them saying anything but the fact that it's my responsibility to ensure everything is submitted in time), or is it better to submit my application, and call them AFTER that saying that one of my recommenders couldn't make the deadline and will be submitting in a couple of days - hoping the fact that I have submitted already will make them more understanding.

If anyone has any point of view here, I will really appreciate it. Thanks.

Thanks lakai777 - appreciate your quick reply. I guess I'll call them today and see how best to hedge this potential disaster.

Just finished with the application for R2. It took me more than 4 hours to just finish the on-line application.
Wow, they ask for a lot details.

Now I wait...with a beer.

Good luck to everyone.

hey everyone, i had a quick question about the additional info "essay". they say let us know about things you feel you need to let us know, but they also say "Please do not include additional essays"

does that mean they don't want a long explanation? don't want it written in a narrative form?

what y'all do?

I think I walked a thin line with that one.
It stated to let them know of any circumstances so I did. But I did add some narratives into it.

But again, this is coming from someone who just applied, not got admitted.

How soon should we expect to hear reports of interviews after the Jan.6 deadline? I have no idea what I'm going to do with myself for the next few weeks!

yeah i've got a nice page and half little "essay" that gives context, what happened, and wraps it up in a nice bow. i'm afraid that my little package i give them may piss them off. I just don't want to give them another, "hey i sucked in school cause x, y, z" cause i'm sure they read thousands of those.
