Does anyone know how strict Stanford typically is when it comes to receiving letters of recommendation before the submission deadline? The application makes it clearly seem that they won't accept anything post-deadline, but I was wondering if anyone knew anything more?
I have an emergency situation that's just cropped up now (24 hours before submission!) where one of my recommenders might not be able to submit his recommendation before the weekend (Jan 9th-10th) due to some personal reasons. Is it worth calling the Admissions Office ahead of time (though I can't imagine them saying anything but the fact that it's my responsibility to ensure everything is submitted in time), or is it better to submit my application, and call them AFTER that saying that one of my recommenders couldn't make the deadline and will be submitting in a couple of days - hoping the fact that I have submitted already will make them more understanding.
If anyone has any point of view here, I will really appreciate it. Thanks.
