Please add to the roll call for Round 2: F/25/GPA 3.6 from top 10/GMAT 750/4.5 years work experience in food wholesale industry/Russian

I have to say, everybody's credentials are rather intimidating...

Wonder if having Masters degree from a good uni might help in making the profile more attractive...

A little - thank you :-) I might actually sleep tonight... hehehe

Honestly though, I'm so stressed out with the wait for the interviews, I can't believe it. Applications to college were so long ago and my brain seems to have blocked out those painful memories!

And then, I vaguely remember, there were homeworks, and exams, and all-nighters...

i guess one of us needs to call the mba office at stanford and probe for how many invites they have sent out so far. last year by this time they had sent out over 200 invites. if you're a true type A and have already done this -- please do tell :-D

Do you mean last year by this time there were 200 invites sent out for round 2 or total for both rounds?

Thanks.

I called the admission office today and asked how many invitations are being sent per week and the guy told me that it varies. He said this is only the beginning and invitations will continue to trickle out. The impression I got is that only a few invitations have been released far. When I asked him if most of the invites had been sent already, he said not even close. So let's keep our fingers and toes crossed.

Thank you Cookster! I had already decided that there was no way I was getting an interview and I might as well start thinking about my strategy for next year...this means there is still some hope!

Cookster is a rockstar!

Also thought it might lower the general stress level to post this message from GSB Admin head Derrick Bolton, sent out last year on Feb 25th. Time to watch the grass grow...

25 February 2009
Round 2 Interview statistics
As of this morning, we have invited 275 second-round candidates to interview. We will extend an additional 100-125 interview invitations to second-round candidates in the next couple of weeks.

During that same period, we plan to interview some of the first-round candidates who accepted spots on the waitlist without having interviewed.

I hope this is helpful,
Derrick

Haha... Thank you guys. I'll be a true hero when I get in with my 640 GMAT. I can't believe how demoralizing and agonizing this wait it. I've started working on plan B and C to take the edge off. Retake GMAT and complete Wharton and Berkeley apps.

Is it wise to call friends we have at the school to try to pull some strings?

+1 cookster.
asking current gsb grads to write a short but impactful letter of support may actually help. when i visited, one of the tour guides mentioned that she wrote one for her co-worker and the adcom contacted her to get specifics on the candidate. so if you can prep your friends and have strong essays and recommendations such that a LOS will be a two thumbs way way up from one of their own you may an advantage.

good luck and if i were on the adcom, i'd just admit you for initiative :)
