Xerox, thanks for the update. Any info on how the applicants are split up between the 29th and the 5th and the purpose of having two dates? Is it completely random?

I have no idea, and invite dates do not matter. Getting an interview invite at any date is a wonderful sign though. Keep in mind that no single component of the application is decisive, but all of them together are.

Similarly, the price/style/color/fit of suit you wear to interview does not matter; neither do things like weather, brand of your time piece, or your grandmother's name--on a second thought, having a famous granny like Mrs. Margaret Thatcher might actually help one stand out a bit :).

As to the one-week gap between the dates, my guess is that from a purely operational point of view, the Adcom is capacity constrained, and the volume of applications is always high. It may be just easier for them to go through the decisions in two parts, but again - this is just my guess.

Has Wharton always split interview invites in 2 days (a week apart or so)? Any insights!

I think they were random last year.

In retrospect, I would like to be in your shoes, guys. For those who will get into the best school in the world, the awesomeness has already started.

Sorry for being philosophical here.

Good luck to all!

Will the invites be a mass mail on Friday? If so, what time are we thinking?

Also, is this like Harvard where honestly most of the invitations will happen on the first day? Or will it be split evenly between the 29th and Nov. 5?

5-7-5 dude...

Nope - Haikus are not syllable-based; they are based on moras. What this means is that the 5-7-5 distinction is useless. 17 total = good. :)

Funny, cause i never used the word syllable. See below...5-7-5

Definition of a Haiku:

Haiku (俳句, haikai verse?) About this sound listen (help·info), plural haiku, is a form of Japanese poetry, consisting of 17 moras (or on), in three phrases of 5, 7, and 5 moras respectively.

Gaaah, dude 1) you write a haiku that's divided into 5-7-5 on stress syllables 2) you assume 5-7-5 Japanese moras are same as 5-7-5 Anglian syllables 3) you revert back to me on a technicality that you yourself know you didn't imply directly.

I wrote the haiku for fun, not because I want a debate on tanka vs haiku poetry. If you don't like it, I request you please move on. :)

Obviously mine isn't a real haiku (refrigerator?)...but try not to correct people when you're not following the rules you lay out anyway....moving on.....
