Scored 570 - Any chances at Kellogg or Chicago GSB?

Here's my brief background:

1) Undergrad - BS Management - Finance 2001
2) GPA - 3.6/4.0
3) Work Experience: 4 years (Fortune 500 company) Analytical work experience
4) First GMAT attempt: 570 (Q39, V29)

I am trying to get into either ChicagoGSB or Kellogg in 2006. I took a Kaplan course in Feb and started off with diagnostic score of 420. Finished class last month by taking last CAT at the testing center with 520 (Q28, V26). I attended an info session at Chicago and the admissions rep told me they have accepted 540 scores before but the applicant had a "great" application.

Should I spend $$ to apply to both schools next year or should I work on getting my GMAT score up? Please help.

P.S. My first post - new member as well :roll:

I would suggest that u retake the gmat since u hve time.try to score above 650. For me GMAT,certainly changed my status from rejection to acceptance.

The rest of your application would have to be truly stellar to be accepted at either of these two schools with a 570. Although you should be quite proud of the improvement, I think you need to improve more to have a viable chance at these two schools. I recommend that you continue working on your GMAT and wait until next year to apply or consider other programs and apply this year.

Are you applying for the full time or part time or weekend MBA program?

I am shooting for Chicago GSB for the weekend MBA program and I have taken the exam once. Did not score well at all and hence taking it again. I am surprised and encouraged to see that they have taken applicants with such a low score. I have been taking practice exams with Kaplan and I am getting a score of about 530 - 540. Another exam on a website that I took, I scored about 610. I have about 5.5 years of work experience and an undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering and graduate degree in Computer Science. Not sure if I can break through the application process.

Planning to apply for this Fall. Let me know if you hear something more from Chicago GSB.

Hello, and thank you for sharing your considerations on GMAT. I have taken GMAT and also scored 570 - my background - MS in chemistry and molecular biology, with tons of statistics, math, and other science - quantitative courses ... I retook gmat and got 510... very frustrating and I get that it not about knowledge (on m practice tests my average was 650) I am applying for fall 2009, will keep you posted on how it goes.
