I'm currently based in Chicago and am torn between doing one of the excellent part time programs here at Kellogg or Booth, or pursuing a full time time program through Cornell Tech or their AMBA program. I have a limitation that I cannot start a program before Fall 2018 due to immigration concerns. I've currently been working at a major market research firm for 8 years now, and have held a variety of roles, from analyst, sales, analytic manager, and a year long stint in India expanding our offshore center there from ~15 to 60 people.
I plan to switch career tracks into either consulting or tech, and am wondering what the best option would be.
My other stats:
* GPA: 3.7 engineering/econ minor at a Little Ivy, Magna cum laude
* GMAT 740 (IR is only a 4 though, took test in 2013)
* Significant managerial experience (currently manage 14 people, managed all 60 in India)
* Currently 29 years old
I think this is a tough call- and only you can answer this- but the Cornell Tech MBA gives you the benefit of going deep into the full time MBA experience but only in 1 yr while the Kellogg or Booth programs will take longer and mean you juggle work and school which can be tough. You have to be honest with yourself in terms of how to handle this. Can you juggle work and school? The tech track interests might make the Cornell Tech appealing but you have to remember there is more than one path you can take to get to your destination. I think you could certainly apply to all of them and get to know the pros/cons along the way so that you can make the best decision for you.
I turned down Anderson (would have been class of 2016) to take on the role in India, and am an Indian national.
