Re: Please evaluate my profile [#permalink]
Hi boyie --

Yes, that undergrad GPA is dismal, but a) UT is a good school; b) chem is a difficult major; and most importantly c) you rocked your master's at Northwestern. The undergrad GPA needs to be explained to the adcoms but it's unlikely to represent a showstopper issue for you.

On demographics: It can matter for a lot. Pacific Islander is typically considered an underrepresented minority at the schools, and the adcoms are always looking to increase diversity on campus. You have a strong profile even without it so it's not like they'd be compromising on standards to let you in. Candidates from underrepresented pools often end up with offers of scholarship; no guarantees that that will happen but it's possible.

That is, provided we're understanding your actual demographics correctly! :-)

Ahhh, okay. No, I'm Pacific Islander. I thought you meant that my background coming from a legal background to b-school was also part of the demographic equation as well.

Re: Please evaluate my profile [#permalink]
No, we're just responding to the ethnicity part.

The legal background is somewhat unique (not entirely, but somewhat) but that we would characterize as a non-traditional profile, not part of the demographic makeup.
