Hi!

Here is my profile:
Age/Sex/Nationality: 22/F/Indian
College Info: B. Tech, Mechanical Engg from DTU (formerly DCE and amongst Top 10 engg colleges in India)
Percentage- 71 (GPA around 3.5)

Extra Currics:
As a Participant :
• Secured 3rd position at “MATHRIX” (Mathematics Event) at DTU annual Technical Fest PHOENIX’13.
• Secured 3rd position at OJOCAD (CAD Designing competition) at IIT HYDERABAD’ 12.
• Secured 2nd rank at GREY CELLS (I.Q. Quiz) event of DTU annual Technical fest, KARYON’ 12.
• Secured 1st position at LINE FOLLOWER (Robotics) event, a part of DTU annual technical fest, Renaissance’ 11.
• 2nd prize at FASHION PARADE at DTU annual cultural fest, ENGIFEST’11.
As a leader:
• INFRASTRUCTURE HEAD in DTU Annual Technical fest.
• Co-founder of a public speaking society in college.
• Organizer of DTU Annual Technical fest.


GMAT: 750 (expected)

Internships:
1. INDIA YAMAHA MOTOR P.V.T L.T.D (for one month)

Target Programs:
Harvard 2+2, IESE Spain (Deferred MBA),Duke MMS, LBS MIM, HEC Paris MIM, ESCP MIM. Planning to apply in R1 for all for Fall 2014 cycle

Post MBA Goal: Work for a couple of years in consultancy or marketing (anywhere across the globe) and then social entrepreneurship in India.

Thanks for the posting.

On most fronts, you are a very strong candidate and I would consider you a competitive candidate at most. Realize that HBS 2+2 is very competitive and the acceptance rates are very low -- so even though you have done a lot and have a lot of what the school is looking for -- you have to make sure that your application really reflects your best work and is up to HBS standards. You should also consider applying to some of the other early entry programs like Stanford and Yale.

As for most of the other schools on your list, with a strong application, you would be a competitive candidate. However, the range of schools you are targeting is so wide and so different that I really recommend that you figure out what you want to get from a graduate program and then re-evalatue some of the schools on your list. Also, there is a huge difference between the philosophies of American and European programs so you have to see which type is right for you.

Hi.. sorry for the late reply..Thanks a lot for the advice. :) I want to be an entrepreneur in future but for now I want to learn all the aspects of management (that's why MIM).
Can you please mention some of the important differences between philosophies of American and European programs? Another question- can u please present some placement stats for international students, especially of LBS MIM and HEC Paris MIM as I want to be on a safe side after investing huge amounts of money.

The biggest difference between most American and European schools is the duration of the program - two years versus one year. You have to determine which length is the right one for you. Both schools tend to be very global, cover the same materials, have bright and motivated students, etc.

If you call our office, we can provide you with all admissions stats in a couple of days. We are finishing up our stats for this year as most schools have now completed their admissions for this year. I know that for HBS and Stanford, we had acceptance rates of 45% and 40% respectively. Our acceptance rates to less competitive programs will be much higher.
