Dear Accepted,

Working for Intel Corporation, one of the top semiconductor companies for the last 4 years. Was promoted within 1.5 years to handle highly critical and highly technical customer issues. Have worked with several big name computer vendors and have solved several of their manufacturing lines down issues thereby leading to savings in the order of millions. I will be leading a team of about 7-10 people next year to architect validation solutions for one of Intel's revolutionary products due in 2012.
Extra - Curricular:
I am really passionate about working towards improving the lives of under-privileged kids in India and the US and have consistently worked on it for the past 7 years. I am the president of the local chapter of a non-ptofit
The organization operates throughout US and works towards the upliftment of under-privileged kids in India and US. Our main focus areas are primary education, prevention of child labor/abuse and primary health . The organization raises over $500,000 every year and supports more than 100,000 children in India and the United States.
I have been managing and leading the local chapter which consists of about 25 volunteers. In the last 2 years I have completely turned this chapter around from making $10000 a year to $24000 a year especially during the recessionary year 0f 2008. I have masterminded and architected several fund raisers that raise more than $10000 annually to support our cause.I will be taking up a position in the national team next year reporting to the CEO and the board of directors of the organization.
In addition to the above I am pretty active in the local community supporting and aiding local kids.I act as a youth mentor to 2 middle school kids every year trying to make them understand the importance of an education in today’s world.I volunteer at a local Foster care home for abandoned and abused kids to ease their trauma and bring them back to a normal existence. Through my employer volunteer grant matching program, I raise about $3000 every year for the above organizations through my individual efforts
MBA plans -
I plan to apply for my MBA in 2011/2012 so that I have some more time to strength my profile which can improve my chances at top schools. I am planning to take the GMAT in a month. Hoping for a score in the 720-750 range to make my profile competitive.
Post MBA plans -
I have 2 main reasons for an MBA:
1 I have always been fascinated by the competition in the tech industry. I would like to major in competitive strategy for the Tech Industry
2. I am really passionate about my non-profit and I want to widen the scope of our organization to support more than 1,000,000 kids and raise $10,000,000 every year over the next 8-10 years. An MBA would go a long way in helping me achieve that goal.
QUESTIONS -
I would really like to get into the top 8 schools with Stanford being my dream school. I have short listed Stanford and Berkeley so far. What are my chances of getting into these schools or the other top 6-8 schools? Since I have around 2-3 yrs before I apply, what are the areas in my profile that I should focus and work on to make my profile more competitive at the top schools?
