because if you consider: 0^(1-1) which implies that 0^0=0/0

so that is why gmat does not use it

Can you explain this in words?

What is the value of x? (1) x−2x=1 − 2 = 1 (2) xx=1

The answer is A. Because by (1) x-2x=1 or -x = 1 or x= -1. (1) Sufficient

But with (2) XxX = 1 now X can be -1 or √1 or 1 ... So (2) not sufficient

Answer (A)

root(1) is just 1... -1 to the power of -1 is not 1, its -1. So its only 1.

No. Statment one states:
x^(-2x)=1. X can be either 1 or -1 in this case, so it is not sufficient for us to determine a value of X

AG2907, I believe you’re spending a bit more time per question (and overall) in the first few questions. The key is to make intelligent guesses and move past questions that end up taking way too much time. It’s okay to get some bruises to win the battle :)

Also having a good mastery over basics will help you solve questions quickly. Would recommend that you review the questions that you ended up taking more than 2 mins (even if you get them correct) to find if there is a better way of solving such questions.

Here are a few tips that you may consider going through -

DrHuber, With all due respect - Attempting 22 - 24 questions with good accuracy isn’t a sign of being "too weak". Yes, there is a timing issue that can be worked on. But labeling a person such on a public forum isn’t cool!
