Now mode is 8. This means 8 comes more frequently as compared to any other number.

1. The difference between any two consecutive integers of the set is 5.
So series can be x, x+5, x+10, x+15...... or x, x+5, x, x+5.
In both cases the difference in consecutive terms is 5, but I am yet to see any actual GMAT question using this trap.

The sequence cannot be x, x+5, x+10.....: we cannot have same term coming twice in this sequence.

So the sequence must be x, x+5, x,.....:
That is the sequence can be 8, 3, 8 : Median is 8, and difference is 0
But sequence can also be 8,3,8,3,8: Here, median is 8, and difference is 8-8=0
Or it can be 3,8,13,8,3,8,13. Again median will be 8
Sufficient

2. The mean of the set of integers is 8
The set can be 0,1,2,3,8,8,50.....mean=mode=8, but median is 3. Difference is 8-3=5
The set can be 6,7,8,8,9,10.....mean=mode=median=8. Difference =0
Had we known that the sequence is AP, median would have been 8
Insufficient

Since 8 is the mode, it must appear twice in the set.

#1 diff of any consecutive number is 5. Given there is at least 2 eights the diff can be zero. So not sure how to proceed further.

Getting the statement B, the difference is 0.

But what about statement A. "The difference between any two consecutive integers"
Does it mean that all the integers in the set are distinct?


Even for statement B, the difference need not be 0.

1,2,3,8,8,26.....mode and mean are 8, but median is 5.5 and difference is 8-5.5 or 2.5
7,8,8,9.....mode, mean and median are 8, so difference is 0

Answer A can´t be ok.
Set 1: -5 0 5 8 8: Difference: 3.
Set 2: 0 5 8 8: Difference: 1.5.

If the difference of ANY TWO consecutives numbers is 5, there´s no mode and the question statement is wrong (not possible).
