Hi guys,
This is my first post on gmat club !! I just started preparing for GMAT and I am planning to apply for Fall 2018. I will be almost 33 years old when i send the applications. I have 2 years of experience as a process engineer (chemical engineering) in India and 5 years of Oil and Gas experience here in the USA. I have a Master's degree. Is this profile considered too old for the top 10 business schools in the USA ?
For Top 10, you are on the cusp. It really depends on the situation but your age is working against you at this point in time.
I would suggest reviewing the discussions from
mbaover30 and searching on the site.
While you may be pushing some boundaries of traditional ages for the FT MBA, you can apply for PTMBA or EMBA. These are much less competitive to get in and allow you to combine work and education. You can also look into applying to European programs - they are much more open minded towards seasoned applicants.
To give you even more options, there are some programs such as Sloan Masters program at Stanford that are designed for older applicants as a matter of fact. The Sloan program was originally an "MBA" but then became masters a few years ago.
Bottom line is - you have a lot of options and some research ahead of you. Check out some of the opportunities and consider them together with your goals and align the two.
Good Luck!
