Re: When x is divided by y, the quotient is z with remainder r. What is x [#permalink]
When x is divided by y, the quotient is z with remainder r. What is x in terms of r, y, and z?

A. y + r + z
B. yz + r
C. x/y+r
D. y/z+r
E. rz + y

The statement as it stands indicates that x-r is divisible by y and the quotient is Z.

I.e. x-r = yz. or x = yz + r.

Answer B.

Quotient * divisor + remainder = dividend where remainder ≥0 and remainder <divisor
so option B

When x is divided by y, the quotient is z with remainder r

Theory: Dividend = Divisor*Quotient + Remainder

x -> Dividend
y -> Divisor
z -> Quotient
r -> Remainder

=> x = y*z + r = yz + r

So, Answer will be B
Hope it helps!
