One way or another, it's about time there's movement on your WL status.
You got scholarship money from Cornell, anyway. In the end, you will be getting world-class business education in the fall.

Totally agree. I'll most likely end up at Cornell (I've turned the color blue after all) but if I get SOM movement before the Johnson deposit deadline I'll definitely have to consider my options. I'll be thrilled to go to either school.

does your application status just says the last December waitlist announcement then? have u tried calling them?

Ya my application status page just has the Dec letter. I haven't tried calling them, but I think I'll just wait patiently -- I'm sure they have enough stressed out applicants calling!

Maybe I should have used Drakkar Noir instead of Davidoff Cool Water? *shrug*

was notified today that I would remain on the waitlist as well! So far, I have sent an essay, LOI, 2 additional recommendation letters ( 1 from previous supervisor, and 1 from an EC ), and any new EC's / work updates I have.

any recommendations to get off the waitlist would be greatly appreciated as well!

A couple of years ago it was about 200-250. I don't know if that's changed.

Just got the continuing waitlist status update. That settles it for me, I'm going to Johnson. I've withdrawn from the SOM waitlist.

Good luck to everyone!

Sorry to hear that. You've been one of the most active persons of this forum, clearly you were VERY interested in Yale SOM.

Ya as I went through the application process SOM moved to the top of my list. So I'm definitely a little disappointed, but that's outweighed by my excitement to attend Cornell!

Good luck to you future Yalies, and I look forward to setting up a game between the Johnson hockey team and the SOM hockey team. Maybe we can do a home-and-home series? We can come play at your funny looking ski-jump rink, and then you guys can come to the middle of nowhere to play at our barn. Of course in any case it's all just an excuse to drink more beer.

Besides the ones highlighted in BLUE in the Roll Call sheet, who else will be attending YSOM for sure in the Fall?

Waitlisted in R1 w/o interview. Now continue to be on the wait list. But I only sent an LOI to the AdCom and didn't follow up as much as most people did on this forum.

Would be great if I get the opportunity to go to YSOM, but it may not happen any more.

Applied in round 2 and waitlisted w/o interview. I sent a letter requesting feedback and am presently working on my WL strategy. Any tips, especially from SOM students/alum like Nink, would be very much appreciated.

Congrats to all the admits. I hope more than anything to see you in the fall!

@Current Students and alums of Yale SOM
Can you give an example of any creative/fun class that you have?
Also, what kind of social events do you have at Yale SOM?

What do you consider creative or fun?

To name a few....

First Yr International Experience lead by professors with incredible contacts in specific region = eye opening experience. It's not simply an international trip like Random Walk or KWEST. You will get much more out of it.

You get to run Food for Thought (It's a convenience store at YSOM, entirely run and managed by YSOM students and proceeds go to the Internship Fund, which supports students committed to summer opportunities in non profit, etc)

Hedge Fund Course - It simulates a real hedge fund environment and its operation. At the end of the semester, you get to make your pitches to hedge fund traders, managers, advisors, etc

Unique Core Curriculum - Each course approaches managerial problems from the viewpoint of a key internal or external organizational role, rather than a single academic discipline. SOM students learn that solutions require a broad view of the issues and an ability to synthesize competing points of view to come up with the most effective ways to lead organizations.

Yale SOM Student Faculty Challenge - fun contest between faculty and students, inspired by CNBC's Fast Money MBA Challenge program

Investor Trading Game - an annual event that has students competing against the market (and each other) in a mock exchange that builds on and reinforces the lessons of the Investor Perspective course

I mentioned it before...be aware of "FOMO" (Fear of Missing Out). Simply, there's just so many things going on around the campus - something interesting for just about everyone. Happy hours, volunteering opportunities, short trips, parties, club organized events, networking events, Fundraising Week (where you dress up based on theme), conferences (lead by industry leaders and other big names), sports clubs, Net Impact, alumni events, Social Enterprise Club (You get to make real impact by getting involved in various activities all over the world), Food and wine Club, Women in Management, etc etc.
