Hi,

I'm an Indian Male with an Manufacturing background with almost 2 yrs of experience.
I am currently working for a Billion dollar company and the best in its segment.
Work experience at the company is mainly related to mechanical field to be more specific automation.
No promotions :(.
Graduated from NIT Trichy with a cgpa of 8 (engineering)

GMAT score 680 ----v31 q 50

Social Service: Part of company initiative for the society and part time teaching in local schools.
Sports: Active in outdoor sports. Have represented state team at junior level in cricket.

As of now I'm confused on whether to retake the test .

I am basically interested in consulting after MBA.

The universities i am targeting are

1 manchester univ.
2 said business school
3 judge
4 Iese
5 warwick

What are my chances for 2012 admission.?

Should i retake.??I am sure that ill be able to get a better score.

I actually believe that you stand a chance with the 680 but do recommend you retake the GMAT to boost your profile in the consulting recruiting process (since recruiters typically ask for your GMAT score and use it in their analysis of your candidacy). If you are pretty sure that you can boost it by 200 points, I see very little downside to dedicating the time to do that now.

Do you think the experience factor and lack of promotion are going to be a handicap while i am applying to B -schools.?

And what all schools other than the above mention can i target ?

First, I just noticed that I wrote "200 points" but I hope it's clear that I meant 20! In terms of your experience: a lack of promotion does not have to be a handicap, for example if you work in a non-hierarchical organization in which you can demonstrate that you are actually assuming greater responsibility and leading people and teams. In other words, titles are not as important as the quality of your work experience. Focus on examples in which you interact with and influence people above, parallel to, and below you in the organization to show that you have the management ability these programs are seeking.
