GMATNinja souvik101990 Please help explain why A is not the right answer in this case. Isn't "for the U.S. presidential election" better than "in the U.S. presidential election"

Even the very article from which this Q seems to be based upon uses "for" instead of "in". https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/ne ... 495758.cms

Experts please advise.

hi,
why is the answer not b?

Hi,

Issue with option B is in the modifier for Joe Biden, it is mentioned that he picked Kamala Harris and after the comma "For presidential elections". So, when you'll read, it becomes Joe Biden for the U.S presidential elections, as his running mate on Tuesday.
Also comma usage and meaning is incorrect "as his running mate on Tuesday".

Please give Kudos if you find this useful.

Even I went for A based on the fact that “in the presidential elections” doesn’t seem right when the selection was “for” a particular event ie USPE. Would love to hear expert views on this.

You run in a race, you don’t run for a race. I think it is a silly idiom, but IMO E is more idiomatic.

Picking people for a race is better than picking people in a race. A seems to be idiomatically correct. Can anyone tell what am I missing here?
