Re: In order for a country to maintain diplomatic relations with another c [#permalink]

In order for a country to maintain diplomatic relations with another country, a country must disavow or deny certain objectionable practices, even though all parties know for a fact that the activities took place and were sanctioned by the government. Failure to follow this protocol results in a diplomatic crisis. Recently, Country Z captured a spy plane from Country X in its sovereign territory, a major offense. Country X quickly announced that the plane was engaging in routine flight drills and had accidentally entered Country Z’s airspace.

Which of the following statements is most strongly supported by the information above?

A. Country Z will now begin sending spy planes into Country X’s territory.
B. Country Z will immediately suspend diplomatic relations with Country X.
C. Diplomatic relations between Country Z and Country X will most likely continue as normal.
D. The plane from Country X was not engaged in spying.
E. Country Z believed Country X’s explanation for the plane’s presence in its airspace.

PreThinking:In stregthner question the link between the premise and the conclusion has to be strengthened,This is an inference question more than strenthener, where we have to find a deduction from the given premise.

In the question provides fact on the condition for healthy diplomatic ties between countries and the next also gives a situation where the premise has to be used to reach to the conclusion.Since government denied the use of spy plane to spy other country the country which was spied upon cannot assert the correctness of its own claim that it was being spied upon and is forced to maintain diplomatic ties.

Option C itereates the prethinking and is also the correct answer.

Yeah I agree this is more on side of inference rather than strengthen.

Hi

I don't find any of the answer to be correct.

In my opinion option "C" would be correct if it had mentioned that "Diplomatic relations between Country Z and Country X will less likely continue as normal".

I don't know....but I didn't find any of the options as a better choice....was in between B and C. But, I don't understand how we can deduce C...B and C seem to be equally unlikely to happen.

Please someone suggest a better approach and differentiate between the two.
