Is x an integer ?

(1) 2x is an integer --> \(2x = integer\) --> \(x=\frac{integer}{2}\) --> integer/2 may or may not be an integer. Not sufficient.

(2) \(\frac{x}{3}\) is an integer --> \(\frac{x}{3}=integer\) --> \(x=3*integer=integer*integer=integer\). Sufficient.

Answer: B.

If x = 1/3, then x/3 = 1/9, which is not an integer.
