Hi,
I'm applying for an MBA program in a business school in Europe.
I am required to submit (upload) a motivation letter and answer some essay questions in the online application form.
Here are 2 of the 8 essay questions that I have to type in the text area in the online application form (there is no any indication on how many words each essay requires):
1. What will the program benefit your future professional project?
2. What are your career goals?
I'm a bit confused on how to tackle the motivation letter and the essays. They already ask for a motivation letter, but they also ask other motivation questions, such as in the essay #1 and #2 above.
If it's a normal case in which I put the career goals (only covers 100 words) in the motivation letter (750-1000 words), then 100 words in comparison to the 750-1000 words of whole essay looks normal to me (or am I wrong here?). But when the "career goals" and the "why this program" topics are taken out of the motivation letter, now I'm not so sure: how long should I write the essays, and what would be written in the motivation letter? Is one (or two) paragraph containing 100 words enough for each of the essays above?
Any advice on how to handle this kind of essays with the request of motivation letter?
Thanks a lot!
I would say to aim for about 500 words for each of those two essays. There are many ways to reiterate your motivation to do an MBA/intentions after graduation. For example, I find the best way to tie write about your career goals is to describe how they relate to your strengths in your current professional position. For the essay #1 question you list, I would try to connect with an alumni of the school and ask him/her how the program helped them in their own career. Hope that helps.
