The interview went well. I got there early and was given a tour by an ambassador. I interviewed with Elisa Lee and she was extremely friendly. The interview was basic but well prepared for. The questions were:

Why MBA?
Why UCI?
Why now?
How would you market yourself?
How can UCI help you reach your goals?

Then she asked questions that were specific to my application and then I asked my questions. She was very energetic and seemed very enthusiastic when answering my questions. The interview lasted about an hour.

I am pretty sure everyone gets a personal interview. Once invited you have the option to select personal or skype. I am unsure if it is different for international applicants.

i hope so, because i got a mail from UC irvine saying that i need to apply before Oct 15 to be considered for the one one personal interview in India.

This is a friendly reminder that if you would like to be considered for an in-person interview in India, please submit a completed application for Fall 2014 by October 15, 2013.

Interview Questions
Here are some of the questions I was asked in my R3 interview (SKYPE)


1.Walk me through your resume.
2.Short and long term goals.
3.Why Paul Merage.
4.Which other colleges u applied and on what basis.
5.If u get admit from all colleges what will be your criteria to join.
6.Describe your day in office and your role in your present team.
7.Describe a situation when you were in a team and you achieved something.
8.Market yourself to a recruiting company.

->Wear Business formals, be at your best, relax and smile.

->Keep a set of questions ready for the admission directors, they are happy to answer them and it also shows your curiosity.

Hello Harish,

I got some information from Merage Student Ambassador:

Increasing number of people are being placed in Energy Companies such as Chevron, DRI Energy, eaton group, Edison mission energy, pacific gas and electric, southern cali Edison etc for . Merage is the located in orange county, which is the 4th wealthiest county in US. This advantage helps to thrive electric business and high end energy technology.

Hi asphalt,

I have been invited to interview for Merage. Unfortunately, the slots currently available are only for tomorrow, But I am on official travel for the next 1 week, that too to a remote industrial location in India, so the internet facilities will be extremely poor.... I have written back to UCI requesting for a slot after I return... Do you think they will be willing to accommodate.. and would this harm my chances in any way.. the official travel is completely unavoidable.. :(
