Does anyone know how they decide who gets interviewed? I got an interview after they said they took a "preliminary" look at my application. What does that mean? My stats? I got an e-mail AFTER the interview invite that they started looking at my application. So it sounds like most people get interviews, is that correct?

The initial review probably means a quick look at the quantitative aspects and the resume...

Thanks. If the resume is included that makes me optimistic as my GMAT is average for the school and my undergrad GPA is well above average. If it was just the quant, I should be a shoe in or an interview and it would mean nothing. It's nice that they liked my resume.

I wonder how they decide who gets an invite when. I got invited 2 days after the application and people get invited a month later.

4 years WE in Silicon Valley, UC Berkeley Chemical Engineering UnderGrad. that sums most of it.

Has anyone interviewed yet? Could you shed some light on the interview and what to expect? Was it blind, questions that caught you off-guard, etc?

Yes, the interview was a blind interview. My interviewer told me that she had not read my file and asked me to repeat stuff from my essays if required. The questions were pretty straight forward and the interviewer was very friendly. The typical why MBA, why Tepper etc.

Interview was straightforward - no curveballs. My interviewer didn't say anything about whether she had read my file.

Submitted my app for R1 on 10/7. It's been a month since then. I haven't received any interview invite yet. App status is still - Complete, not even 'under review'. I am really worried now.
Considering number of international students get admitted, I am wondering what chances do I have.
Fingers crossed.

WE 9+, IT, Business Analyst with 4.5 yrs US exp., diverse exp. in IT, decent GMAT.

Dont worry, if it is still not reviewd, they are definitely going to review it. Mine is 'Under review' since the day I submitted, but still haven't heard a word from them. I am getting a feeling that its going to be a 'Ding without Interview'.... :P

That the application status shows as completed means that it is under review. There is no "under review" status on the application page.

Keeping in mind Dec 16 as deadline.... let's say they would have kept coningency of 5 days... then 1st Dec would be their internal deadline...

Doing reverse math, i/v calls should be out max. by next week considering 15 days of lead time period to schedule i/v. and arriving at the final decision...

Let's hope for the best...
