I received the notification to arrange for my interview last Wednesday, and had just completed the interview last night - The questions asked were as per what NovDjokovic mentioned.
Indeed, the interviewer highlighted that the admission committee is one week behind schedule, so the results for the first round of interviews will only be known next week. I did not ask if the delay was due a "record number of early applicants", but it is certainly possible.
Meanwhile, I gathered from a previous email to the admission office that SDM "... admit 55-60 students each year and typically receive around 350-400 apps...". That puts the acceptance rate between 13% to 17%. However, a typical cohort only have 2/3 of its seats for students pursuing SDM on a full-time, on-campus basis (*inferred from the latest issue of Pulse. See page 25). If this is the case, assuming that we are likely to see more full-time applicants than DL students, the actual seats / acceptance rate for full-time students may be much lower, possibly 10+%.
Going further, I read somewhere that MIT (as a whole) interviews about 25% of the applicant pool. If this figure is to be believed, and with 60 seats in an applicant pool of 350~400, I will put the odds of getting through an interview at ~60%-70%. but then of course, different faculties may conduct their interviews differently, making all of above just my wild guesses.
Keeping my fingers crossed.
