Hi fellows,

Let me introduce myself.

I founded my company (a strategic advertising agency with digital roots) when I was 21, so 16 years ago. It's based in Prague, the Czech Republic.

The company is steadily growing for 20 to 50% per year. It's not a tech start-up allowing to grow exponentially, we sell man-days, so it's tough to grow more.

We're preparing an international expansion, so I would like to learn more about managing bigger companies and going global. I had the amazing opportunity to study at Stanford for a while, so GSB is my only option. As I spoke with the director of MSx program, I'm a little bit overqualified for MBA.

Although I'm a known person in our country (e. g. I'm cited in 220+ diploma thesis), my school performance was always bad. :-) My GPA is 1.9. :-) But part of that was I focused on my business and not at my school (I was studying and running a business at the same time). Funny thing is I was a lecturer at a university for four years, besides my business.

Now I'm studying for GMAT. As everybody in the same position knows, running a business as CEO and studying for GMAT at the same time is hard, but we, entrepreneurs, like a challenge. :-) I reserve some time blocks when I try to study only.

The only obstacle is the recommendations, as I work in close cooperation primary with my colleagues, who are all subordinate (I'm the CEO and the only owner). I want to ask some people outside the company, who work in the advertising industry, to give me the recommendations.

Do ask "What were the strengths of the MSX program that prompted you to go for it"

Thank you, RayOnTop, for starting this topic!
Maybe this threat will be more active than the MBA one?
Good luck everyone with his/her application!

I applied to Stanford MSx at round one, and I got an interview invitation at the end of October. I have OA7.5 in Ielts and 700 in GMAT. Did anyone else get an interview invitation at first round?

can someone explain the difference between executive MBA and MSx program?
Hello KDM25,
as far as I know, Stanford doesn't offer an Executive MBA. The MSx program is full time study over one year leading to an MS in Management, while the traditional EMBAs are practically part time, usually over weekends and it takes 2 to 3 years to complete the degree. EMBA is for people with more work experience, so the usual curriculum of EMBAs is focused on leadership topics and soft skills and largely networking, with less emphasis on hard skills. If I can categorize the MBAs based on work experience and on where you are in your career, I'd say that if you are fresh out of the college up to 5 years WE, then go for traditional full time two year MBA programs. If you are mid career, WE from 10 to 15 years and looking for a professional pause to re-energize and contemplate a little bit :-) then go for the full time mid career programs such as Sloan Fellows of Stanford MSx, MIT Sloan Fellow MBA, USC IBEAR MBA, Washington Foster GEMBA, London Sloan Fellow MSc, ..etc. If you are someone who wants knowledge but also want to keep the full time job, then the part time mode might be better, this mode comes in forms of PTMBA, or EMBAs.
You should also consider the other options of online programs but make sure of the quality of the program. I wish you the best.

Hi fellow mates. I have just finished the GMAT and started off on the essays for round 2. Is there a view on the average time it takes to shape up the essays and recommendations.
