Hi jibs,

Any area to focus on while preparing for the essay?--Tips, if any.
Also, having an experience of over 5 years, PI questions will pertain more towards the Business Side or towards the General Awareness/Current Affairs?
Awaiting revert!

Hi Jibbi,

My profile details are:
SSC - 84%
HSC - 69%
BE - 62.3%
GMAT - 640 IR-3

I have 4 years of experience as a User Experience Designer and work with a reputed IT firm.
What are my chances and is IR also considered for the selection process?
Hope to hear from you soon.

Regards,
Arunlal Nair.

Hi Arun,

You have an excellent chance, I have my friend who got call for round 1 with similar profile. IR is not considered( I too have similar score, got call from round 1). Drafting your essay would be key an would take good time. All the best, hope it helps

Dear SMD0907,

I think its the ideal program for someone with experience who is planning for a career shift. I myself had a prior experience of 4 years working for an IT company as a test engineer, and post-MBA I'm working as a "Marketing Manager" in "education sector". Many of my colleagues who came from industries like SBI/ banking , Automobile, IT/ ITES, ed-tech, healthcare etc. to name a few, were successfully able to make transitions to Operations/ Marketing/ Finance / Analytics roles that too in industries different from their previous ones.
So the one year program is an added advantage for experienced professionals to cut short their educational journey to just 1 year and start working from the next year.

I do not want to miss out on important points regarding placements, so would request you to go to this link which contains details related to Function-Wise division of placement statistics, Major Recruiters, previous placement reports etc.
https://www.greatlakes.edu.in/pgpm/placement-snapshot

Regards,
Jibs

Jibs,
I have already been through this placement snapshots. My question was, On this link itself, if you go to the placement snapshot for the years 2013 and 2014, there has been a bifurcation in the avg. salary by function as well as major companies recruiting per function, but this bifurcation has stopped after 2014. So would you have this data for the years after 2014? More specifically, I would like to know the major companies recruiting students to the Operations Function and the avg. salary for Operations as it was mentioned in the 2014 snapshot. And if you have the data, I would also like to know the job titles, profiles offered. This would help a lot.
Thanks Jibbi for your help in advance. You have already helped clear a lot of things.

Dear SMD0907,

Apologies for late reply, was occupied with the interview related tasks for cycle 1. The format of the placement snapshot was changed 2015 onward and therefore, i would be unable to provide the requested data. But give me some time to gather list of few recruiters for operations which have recruited in the past. Will get back to you at the earliest.

Dear Himanshu1502 ,
raunakme19 , SMD0907 ,

Apologies for late reply as I was caught up with cycle 1 interview related tasks.
I think I'm a bit late in making my response count for you, but in case if you are appearing for the interviews scheduled on 17th December, 2017, here are few tips:
- Essays will be generic and can be on topics related to your opinion/ viewpoint on a very generic daily life scenario or recent/ trending affairs in and around the world/country
You can write either for or against a given topic or even give a diplomatic opinion, but you will have to back them up with reasons. It is basically to evaluate you in terms of
how well you can structure your thoughts and how you approach a given scenario.
- The interview is not going to be a stress one. If you know about what you have mentioned in your CV, and score points with your soft skills like communication, confidence, attitude etc. , then the interview will be a piece of cake :)
-You need to carry a copy of your CV

Dear Arunlalnair,

You have a good profile and score. You have a decent chance of getting shortlisted. The final selection will be done after assessing your overall profile- academics, score, work profile, essay, achievements etc. I would suggest you to go ahead and apply.
IR is not considered for selection process.
