Does anyone know if Langone has rolling admissions or if they decide after the deadline. I submitted my application and was curious to know when I would hear something.

thanks

What I've seen from the Spring thread, the decisions are rolling to a certain extent. If your stats are superlative, you'll get the admit rather quickly, otherwise, it may take a while.

Again, I highly doubt you will get an admit before the May deadline. It's in, there's nothing left to do, so I'd say just relax. I know, I know . . . easier said than done.

I have no clue. As I've said before, from what I can see, if you have a 700+ and 3.5+ you're almost automatically in, and accepted quickly as well. If you're at around 650/3.1 you're about 50/50 and below that, chances are even lower.

So, I'd guess you have a fairly good shot at getting in. But again, that's just based on reading through the entire spring 08 and fall 07 threads.

I have a question, does it matter if i submit right on the deadline or before? Does NYU really roll admissions so earlier candidates have better chance?

Not in my experience. I submitted my application for spring 2008 the day of the deadline, September 15, 2007. I received an offer of admission on October 31.

Hey guys, seems like forever since I've visited the board! Well I'm back from vacation and now I'm ready to partake in the obsessive NYU application process with the rest of you again! :P

I have some quick questions, I hope they're not stupid but I just had to get it out there lol:

First, is there any way to view a recommendation once someone has submitted it electronically? I feel awkward about asking my recommenders to see what they wrote so I was hoping I can view it on the site somehow.

Second, I really am clueless when it comes to explaining the reasoning behind picking your scheduling option for the essay. I am not asking for specifics here, but what is NYU looking for in this essay? I can't simply say that I have work obligations so I prefer to attend on weeknights - it seems too easy!

So I obviously need to get a move on with my app - I have all my recs available and now I need to work on the essay...

#1 It depends on whether you waived your rights to view it. But generally speaking, you won't see what your recommender wrote.

#2 That's exactly what they're looking for. What better reasoning for a specific PT program than work schedule conflict?

If you are adding a recommendation provider online then you can answer 'No' to the following question on the form where you enter the contact info of your recommender:

Do you wish to waive your right to examine this letter of recommendation?
[ ] Yes
[ ] No
Under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974, students have access to their education record, including letters of recommendation. However, students may waive their right to see letters of evaluation, in which case the letters will be held in confidence.

Typically students waive their right to review. I am not sure how admission committee view it but i believe that recommender does not feel free to write an honest and objective letter if student does not waive the right. See https://chronicle.com/forums/index.php/t ... 005.0.html
