From what I understand, around deadline time, they’ll email us a password so that we can check on the status of our application. If anything is missing, the status site will tell us. It will also tell us if we’re accepted, when that time comes…

Another Langone MBA applicant here..

IT/Female/Indian
720 GMAT
3.4 GPA - MS Computer Science
70% BS Computer Science (Indian University)
6 years work experience

arorasa - I spoke to the admissions staff during one of their information sessions and she mentioned that you don't need to submit a GPA equivalent and the percentage value is good enough.

During the information session, the adcom mentioned that after the application is complete and submitted, within a couple of days they will notify us if transcripts are missing or anything else needs to be sent in. So if there isn't a notice then they did receive everything.

So suppose I submit this ON the 15th and they still haven't received my transcript - will I still have time to submit it after the deadline? Freaking out here! In other news, I thought of an awesome idea for my personal expression portion so I'm feeling much better than last week :roll:

Yes, they send you a notification and if something is missing, will give you time to submit the document.

I am really struggling with the essays.

Short Term and Long Term Goals:

Folks, I am really struggling with the word count. Are all of you strictly following the word count or using it to be in the range. I am over by almost 150 at this point for this essay :roll:

What was said in the info session is that usually adcom doesnt count but my take is that if your essay is within 10% limit, its ok.

Actually what I've been told is a bit different. According to my conversation with adcom, the essay is an opportunity for applicants to express themselves and articulate their goals, but at the same time essays are an excercise in being able to follow directions. If they say 150 words then they want no more than 150 words. One example they gave is the 12-pt font requirement. They don't want to see 11.75-pt font or 11.5-pt font, because they asked for 12-pt font. Why would you do otherwise?

While some latitude on the (very low) word limit would be great, personally I'd do everything I can to stay within the guidelines provided. Just my two cents... :)

So I sent in my application on April 29th and just received my password to the application status webpage (it's May 6th). This is about 5 - 10 days earlier than I expected. Did anyone else get their password yet?

I held to the same guideline. I think +/- 10% is pretty standard for app essays. Go too much over and you’ll seem overly verbose, or worse –defiant.

A lot of people say visiting a campus totally changes their feeling of preference. Maybe you should visit both to get more insight?

As for me -I’m applying to Washington Square. It’s an easy subway ride for me. Westchester is not really an option.

We'll still probably have to wait 1 - 2 months or more to get a result... but we can begin compulsive checking much, much sooner
