Am I suppose to just show up at the Ad Com office at the scheduled lunch time and they'll assign a student to eat with me? Thanks!
Pretty much, if you schedule it the day of your interview. It will most likely be an MBA2 with a couple of other applicants being interviewed. Not a bad idea to have lunch just before the interview, helps you calm some nerves and gives you excellent fodder for the actual interview conversation.

Hi,
I don't have ANY work experience, I've poor grades in school(<3.5)), I'll have a Master's degree in Accountancy by the june, 2012. Do you think I have a shot at NYU Stern or Columbia? I've a GMAT score of 720 and an Essay score of 5.
I have about 500+ hours of community service over the last three years, if that counts.
Should I apply for the next year? For the batch that starts in 2012?
Thanks,
Dussel Engst Kierberg
Are you counting your time in the military as work experience? FWIW, there are people in both the Stern and Columbia MBA classes who were admitted with only 2 years of post-undergrad (U.S.) work experience. If you have a good story and explain why an MBA now might be a good idea, don't write off your chances at either school.
And Brooklyn might be a 15-20 min.
subway ride away from Stern
if you live right on the A/C or the N/R, but door to door it takes a bit longer. Most people live within walking distance of school. That said, there are a lot of Stern folks that live in South Brooklyn and Williamsburg and it's a very tight community.
