What you mean by "defer their final decision to a later time"? does it mean you are on their waitlist?


I dont think s/he is on waitlist..

Last year they deferred some applicants to RD, which basically meant that the final decision would be rendered with RD applicants (read Jan/Feb 2012) but one would be freed from the "binding decesion" clause..

Thanks for the information, "our chances of getting in come down to the number of applicants with similar profiles that turn down CBS to go elsewhere " i dont like that :|

My app was deferred a few weeks back. Seems like there were many deferred last year, but only saw a couple of those get admitted.

Just got an email from Columbia Business School MBA Admissions asking if I'd like to attend an info session on the 25th. I think I just had a heart attack.

That is an undeniably unquestionable good sign! I'll hold off on any celebratory statements until it's official, but that's great news eaglesadam22!

Ask them why you should attend - "I've already done a lot of research on the school - it's decent, at best!"

Nah dude, it's automated message. I thought it was a 'decision has been rendered' email. I signed up for the info session, figure maybe if I show up they'll see that I'm dedicated. Maybe if I'm lucky I'll get a phonecall by then...

anyone got an interview invite recently after submitting close to ED deadline? any international applicants with recent invites...the wait is killing!!!

I'm still waiting. Submitted around midnight Oct 5, went under review on Oct 12.

My columbia EA application: tomorrow I am going to be one month old.. I still don't know whether to pop-up or to pop-off.. In those energy-saving commercials when they ask 'how does it feel when someone left you on ?' I reply -- 'under review..'

Has any potential candidates in India who applied in EA round got interviewed yet ?

Under Review: 10/3
and........... Still under review :) The more I am waiting, the more the european economic crisis is increasing, the more I doubt about spending thousands of dollars :)

Interview invite - end of sept
Interview complete - 1st wk of oct
Deferred - Oct 20

Sucks that we're pretty much in a limbo now..
