3. B.Tech (computer science engg.) from some private clg with DGPA 8.08 out of 10. Had passed out in 2010, in midst of recession buzz so cudn't go for d loan-dependent MBA, instead opted for M.tech (Operations Research) from N.I.T Durgapur, India, to be completed by June'13 (current CGPA 7.8 out of 10).
4. Had organised inter-class quiz competitions in school. Was the editor and contributor of a little magazine. 8. To join a reputed company, repay the loan, and maybe after 2-3 yrs relocate (come back to India or elsewhere) without hampering my professional growth. Right now am open for all opportunities.
My queries are:
i. Should I choose MiM now or wait for 2-3 yrs to gather experience and then go for US MBA schools? Which option is more suitable for my profile?
ii. Does IT work ex from IBM hold enough value to apply to US top 10/20 schools for MBA? Do I stand a chance there?
iii. If MiM, then which schools do I stand a chance for(HEC, LBS)? What are the job prospect as a non native student? If US MBA after 3 yrs, then also which schools are suitable for me? Need to compare to decide on the course.
iv. Any thoughts on Exec MBA from ISB?
Anxiously waiting for suggestion. Thanks in advance.
Pritha,
1. You post-degree goal is very broad. Really too broad to provide much guidance either in terms of an MBA or an MiM. The MiM is a less expensive degree and should allow you to accomplish those very broad goals. The questions is whether you will want an MBA in 4-5 years.
2. yes. and Yes.
3. Yes. you have a chance at HEC, LBS, and if you wanted to consider Duke's MMS, which is a similar program.
4. The Executive MBA from ISB is for much more experienced applicants.
Best,
Linda
