words starting with E: Remaining RRIV will be arranged in 4!/2! or 12 ways. Similarly words starting from I, so 24 gone. Next RE_,_,_ : 3! or 6 ways, RI_,_,_ again 6 ways. Total 24+6+6 or 36 gone. 37 will be RREIV, then RREVI and 39th RRIEV

Re: Quant Question of the Day Chat [#permalink]
Sylvia is driving at 48 miles/hr and her husband Kal is driving at 55 miles/hr. If he starts off from home 45 minutes after she has left, how long would he take to catch up with her on the journey if they’re both taking
the same route?

can someone help me with this?

In 45 minutes, S would have covered 36 miles. K can cover 55-48 or 7 kms extra in one hour. So to cover 36 he requires 36/7 which is 5 hrs 1/7*60 minutes, that is 5 h and 8 .5 min

Re: Quant Question of the Day Chat [#permalink]
This question is based on relative velocity. Since both Sylvia and Kal are driving in the same directions the speeds cancel and the relative speed becomes 55 - 48 which is 7 miles per hour. Since Sylivia has already left, in 45 min she would cover 36 miles. And for Kal to cover that distance with a relative speed of 7 miles per hour would take 5.14 hours or 5 hours 8 min.

Re: Quant Question of the Day Chat [#permalink]
I think this question becomes easy by looking at the pattern for an easier sub question. Do look at the solution in the image attached.

PS: I didn’t look at the forum solution, this is something I came up by my own xD

Hope my solution makes it easier to understand @pranavkohli16 :)
