Wharton going fully online this fall
At a call with the incoming students today at 11 AM, Dean Geoffrey Garrett announced the MBA program is moving fully online this fall. The school has made the change from its earlier announced plans of having a mix of both on-campus and part virtual classes.
What it means for Internationals?
Though Wharton has been considerate in granting deferrals to internationals facing visa issues this move could necessitate all internationals may not be able to join this year and will have to defer.
Though the US government has rescinded its July 6 order following a series of lawsuits seeking a permanent injunctive relief to bar the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) from enforcing the federal guidelines barring international students attending colleges and universities offering only online courses from staying in the country, this relief is only for students already enrolled into US programs.
What this means for international students planning to enroll this year is uncertain, as spring classes could still be on-campus, but odds tilt in favor of mandatory blanket deferral for all internationals following visa restrictions.
Another question is if other B-schools will follow Wharton.
