The average length of 6 snakes is 80 cm. If the average length of one third of the snakes is 70 cm, what is the average of the other snakes?

A. 75.
B. 85.
C. 90.
D. 94.
E. 100.

Total length of 6 snakes = 480 cm
Total length of 1/3rd of sakes or 2 snakes = 2*70 = 140

Average length of other snakes = (480 - 140)/4 = 340/4 = 85 cm

Correct Option: B

Try to convert the average to the total value, this helps you to solve the question easily

So our first step would be calculating the total average which is 80*6 = 480cm

Now the question says 1/3 average is 70 which means 70*2 = 140cm

So for the remaining 4 snakes the height would be 480-140 = 340

And subsequently the average would be 340/4=85cm Hence Answer is B

Here is my take on this Question -->

Sum (6)=480
Sum(2)=140
Sum(4)=340
Hence Mean(4)=340/4=85

Hence B

Quote:
The average length of 6 snakes is 80 cm.
Total length of 6 snakes is 480 cm
Quote:
If the average length of one third of the snakes is 70 cm
Total length of 2 snakes is 140 cm

So, Total Length of 4 snakes is 340cm

So, Avg of 4 snakes is \(\frac{340}{4} = 85cm\)

Hence, correct answer will be (B) 85 cm
