Re: GMAT Online - What We Know [Master Topic] [#permalink]
Hello guys I would appreciate some help concerning the check-in process. From what I’ve read, before the online exam you have to pair your cell phone and take some photos. However, it’s highly likely that for a short period of time I will have a different phone number than the one provided in my examity profile. Are you aware whether this can cause any issue? Would you suggest I wait until I have my original phone number back? I’ve just asked these same questions to GMAC but since I was planning to take the test in 2 days, I’m afraid they wouldn’t answer soon enough.
Thanks.

Hi

I've heard that in the GMAT online there is a small window onscreen which shows your webcam's feed. This can be potentially distracting since we are not used to seeing ourselves during exams.
If such a window does appear, do we have the option to hide/drag it away?

Hi. You want to be in the room that has walls and doors. I would not do it in a large cubicle farm. There’s a good chance they will turn you away or will cancel your score later because it’s hard to monitor security threats in that environment.

However, if you do it in the conference room, or somebody’s office, it’s perfectly fine

Cool, thanks for your answer! So a room with a glassdoor and walls would probably do the case then?

Hi Everyone,

I have my GMAT online exam tomorrow.

Up until now, my system was running smoothly. But now in my system test, the Webcam and Microphone ready sign is not coming.

I checked otherwise on different apps and individually, both of them seem to be working fine.

Hope this won't create an issue. Please let me know if there's a workaround here.

Hi I have a question, for the gmat online can one select the school to send the score to after the exam too? Or do we have to select it right at the start similar to what one does in the offline(test center) GMAT?

Hi I have a question, can someone pls answer.

After booking the GMAT online exam, the mail says this - "Ensure that you have uploaded an ID that meets the GMAT ID Requirements at least 48 hours prior to your scheduled appointment time. You cannot update your ID within 48 hours of your appointment time."

Where does one have to upload this id? I cannot find any link Also I have already uploaded my passport on Examity before scheduling the exam, so is this upload different from that?

You have done the needful. There's nothing else that you need to do except uploading a valid ID on the Examity website. Just make sure to produce that ID when the proctor instructs you to show before the exam.
Best of luck for your test!

To me, the use of an online whiteboard feels like a disadvantage and that I may spend extra time figuring out how to use it. Any advice would be much appreciated!

I can recommend Miro, Mural, Explain everything, Stormboard, Microsoft whiteboard, Google Jamboard, Ziteboard and etc.

Hello, everyone. Because I live in a remote area, I was thinking of taking the GMAT Online. However, I am unsure about two matters. If anyone has answers, that would be great.

1) Are the system requirements the same as can be found under the tab on this page from the official site? I ask because I have a Mac that has an OS above 12.2.1, which that page says is "not compatible." I do not want to install Windows just to take the exam. In fact, I would rather go to a test center while on vacation at some point.

2) Are you allowed to take the exam standing up? I conduct all my lessons while standing, and I am used to doing so for hours at a time. It would be more difficult for me to sit.

I have looked through many pages of this thread, as well as on the official site, but have not found answers specific to my queries.

@rianaamy It's probably going to be hard for people to count exactly during the actual exam, but maybe you'll get a response here. The ESRs on classic edition showed the number of questions of each type, but we no longer have that data for focus edition.

I'd be curious how often there are only 3 RC passages, instead of 4. I got only 3 passages in 1 of 7 practice tests I took.

Below is the data from 7 official practice tests. 6 of the 7 tests had 9 or 10 CR.

Now, for both online and offline, you send the reports AFTER the exam. After receiving your official score report, you have 48 hours to send 5 free score reports. After that, it's $35 for each additional score report.

eeagle I'd suggest practicing with the same whiteboard that's on the actual test.

You can use it on the practice tests at http://gmatprep.starttest.com/. It's a pop-up window that sits on top of the question. You can adjust the size of it, and type notes if you want to.
